Secord Grad Troy Holowchuk Selected in NLL Draft by Toronto

by Mike Balsom | Sep 23, 2019
Secord Class of 2018 grad Troy Holowchuk was chosen in the fourth round of the National Lacrosse League's 2019 entry draft. The goaltender played this past season with the Six Nations Arrows, after playing the 2018 campaign for the St. Catharines Athletics, both in the Ontario Lacrosse League. Currently attending the University of Waterloo in his second year, Troy plans to finish his education before beginning a career in professional lacrosse. The Toronto Rock, meanwhile, said on their website, that they "addressed a need for a third goaltender when they selected Troy Holowchuk in the 4th Round, 58th overall.  The 19-year old from St. Catharines, ON, opted into the draft early after a standout season with the Six Nations Arrows of the OJALL.  Holowchuk still has two years of junior lacrosse eligibility remaining and the Rock plan to develop the young netminder over the next couple of years into an NLL regular.
