Well, it was a ridiculously COLD day yesterday for Cross Country Patriots, but that didn’t stop us from having 6 qualifiers for SOSSA and many other personal bests! Some highlights of the day: Midget Girls Nina Brown ran her heart out for a qualifying spot, Alison Koscis battled through an injury, Sarah Gowan edged out teammate Lucy Teminski by a mere 3 seconds for a qualifying spot with Niah Fiorino and Mary Boese at their heels, with Lindsay Sider-Lafrance persevering till the end. Brenden Damiano had a great 6th place finish with his amazing 17:37 5km time, Konner Floyd was so close, but just missed qualifying by 30 seconds, along with teammates Conner Emslie, Wyatt Paugh, and Shinwoo Yi (a personal best for Shinwoo) who were not far behind but had amazing races. Our 2017 OFSAA qualifier, Mackenzie Damiano came in 2nd overall, 1st individual and teammate Leah Klassen took 10th overall, 4th individual. And finally, Caleb Moffett with an amazing 23:04 6km time moves on and special mention to Shuta Ando for persevering through some steep competition for a great finish in his final Cross Country race as a Patriot. Just to give you an idea of the competition in the Senior Boys race - Shuta’s non-qualifying time was faster than the winning Senior Girls time, and the top 10 times were all under 21 minutes. Super Fast! Congratulations to each and every Patriot out on the course for an amazing day. We will see ALL OF YOU out at practice tonight!
