•Instrumental Music, Vocal, Grade 9, (AMV1O)
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.

This focus course in Vocal Music will provide students with the opportunity to learn vocal music skills in intonation, part singing, diction, projection, breath control and tone quality. Students will also have the opportunity to learn to read, perform and appreciate music as well as to study basic theory, history and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Strings, Grade 9, (AMS1O or AMS1OA)
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.

This focus course in Instrumental Music (Strings) will provide students with opportunities to play a string (violin, viola, cello, or bass) instrument. Students will also have the opportunity to learn to develop good tone quality, projection and intonation, to read, perform and appreciate music, and to study music theory, history and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Repertoire, Grade 9, (AMR1O) (AFTER SCHOOL)
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including, the elements, terminology, and history.

This focus course in Music Repertoire will provide students with the opportunity to learn an extensive repertoire for their instrument or voice. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to learn sight reading, presentation, and performance skills as well as various styles through listening, and analysing selected works.

•Instrumental Music, Band, Grade 9, (AMI1OB or AMI1OA)
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.

This focus course in Instrumental Music (Band) will provide students with opportunities to play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument. Students will also have the opportunity to learn to develop good tone quality, projection and intonation, to read, perform and appreciate music, and to study music theory, history and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Vocal, Grade 10, (AMV2O)
This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.

Students will also have the opportunity to learn to develop more complex rhythmic reading and performance skills and to continue their study of music theory, history, and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Repertoire, Grade 10, (AMR2OB) (AFTER SCHOOL)
This course emphasizes performance of music at an intermediate level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning that strikes a balance between challenge and skill. Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including, the elements, terminology, and history.

Students will also the opportunity to learn to develop more complex rhythmic reading and performing skills, to read, perform and appreciate music, and to continue, their study of music, theory, history, and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Vocal, Grade 11, (AMV3M)
This focus course in Vocal Music will provide students with the opportunity to learn to further refine their vocal music skills. Students will also have the opportunity to learn challenging repertoire as they continue their study of music theory, history and analysis.

•Instrumental Music, Strings, Grade 11, (AMS3M)
This focus course in Instrumental Music - Strings will provide students in both the University/College and Open destination courses with the opportunity to learn to further refine their bowing and performance techniques, as well as their projection, intonation and tone quality. Students will continue to develop their skills in music literacy, performing, composing and arranging, as well as their study of music theory, history, and analysis.
