DNA Arts Program

The District School Board of Niagara has incorporated into the regular program of study at Laura Secord Secondary School the District of Niagara Academy for the Arts (DNA Arts) program.  It allows talented and committed Arts students the opportunity to concentrate their studies in the Arts while also completing the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

There are five streams available to students---Dance, Drama, Music, Music Theatre, and Visual Arts.  

In order to be eligible for the DNA Arts Certificate, students must complete a minimum of two (2) Arts credits per year and must complete a total of at least eight (8) Arts credits by the time that they graduate.

In addition, students will be expected to maintain a minimum academic average, participate in related school groups, and attend workshops, community activities, and other enrichment activities as required. These expectations will be outlined in greater detail upon admission to the program.  Please note that enrolment in the program is conditional and is reviewed on an annual basis.

If you are NOT a Laura Secord Boundary student, please print, complete and submit the following forms to your current DSBN Elementary Principal or Laura Secord Guidance Department by December 10, 2019.

If you are a Laura Secord BOUNDARY student you do NOT need to submit the forms above.

The deadline for applying is  DECEMBER 10, 2019.

All students must attend the mandatory Audition/Interview Day for all applicants on JANUARY 9, 2020.  Please read the requirements for each of the DNA streams in the DNA Arts Program Information Package to prepare for this step in the application process.
